HiFiMan RE2000 IEM Review

Twister6 posted a review of the HiFiMan’s RE2000 IEM over on Head-Fi. It is a single dynamic driver IEM priced at a flagship TOTL price ($2,000).  From the reviews it seems to compare well with IEMs priced in the $1,500 range.  While I do own some of the IEMs in this price range I would recommend steering clear of the IEMs over $1,000.  Unless weight and size are critical to you such as when my job required 100% travel, I would recommend purchasing a great pair of headphones and DAC/amp.

Pros – detailed hi-res sound, excellent bass response, wide soundstage, unique topology diaphragm tech, removable cable.
Cons – price, ergonomics of the design, eartip selection.

Review of DUNU DK-3001 Hybrid IEM

George Dobrescu posted an extensive review of the DK-3001 over on Head-Fi.  From the review it sounds like a great 3BA/1dynamic driver IEM.  Priced around $500, it is middle of the road for a quad-driver IEM.

Pros – Relaxed Signature, Smooth Sound, Strong Bass, Large Soundstage, Good Instrument Separation, Good Comfort, Large Number of Accessories Included, Useful Carrying Case, Great Value, Musical, Romantic, Natural
Cons – A tad too polite for metal music, The sound Might be too relaxed for some.

Schiit Lyr 2 Review

Army-Firedawg posted a great written and video review of the Ly2 amplifier over on Head-Fi.  I’m certain you will enjoy the thorough review and as a bonus there are others on the same page just below Army-Firedawg’s review.

Pros – Incredible price/quality sound, solid build, great looks, plenty of power
Cons – No balanced outputs, stock tubes drastically hold back what amp is capable of.

Review of the Xduoo X3 Entry Level Digital Audio Player

Zelda has a review of the X3 over on Head-Fi.  From the review it is clearly an entry level DAP priced at around $100.  There is some completion in the $75-$150 price range so you are looking for an entry point for HiFi DAPs you may want search my site for reviews of competitive products.  I do like the fact that it has two microSD slots.

Pros – Sound Quality: detail, transparency, air, separation; Build quality; Very portable; 2 micro SD slots; Good synergy; Solid firmware
Cons – Battery; Buttons layout; OLED screen is useless under the sun; Prone to scratches
