Schiit Lyr 2 Review

Army-Firedawg posted a great written and video review of the Ly2 amplifier over on Head-Fi.  I’m certain you will enjoy the thorough review and as a bonus there are others on the same page just below Army-Firedawg’s review.

Pros – Incredible price/quality sound, solid build, great looks, plenty of power
Cons – No balanced outputs, stock tubes drastically hold back what amp is capable of.

Schiit Audio Jotunheim Headphone Amp/PreAmp Review

Chris Martens posted a great review of the outstanding and innovative Jotunheim Amp/PreAmp over on Hi-Fi+.  BTW, there are optional DAC and phono modules.  The Jotunheim provides single-ended, balanced and RCA outputs.  It is all around an outstanding solid state machine.

Schiit Audio Yggdrasil DAC and Ragnarok Amp Review

Chris Martens has a review on Hi-Fi+ of the outstanding Schiit Yggdrasil and Ragnorok DAC/Amp stack.  This is the high end of the Schiit line and they are outstanding.  I have spent several hours over the past year listening to them at various meets.  They aren’t cheap and the aren’t gimmicky.  They are simply excellent products and a good price.  One of the best price performing stack on the market.  Someday and might be able to purchase these but for now I revel in my Bitfrost/Valhalla stack.

Review of Schiit’s Modi 2 Uber, Magni 2 Uber, and Vali 2

Keanex has a comprehensive review of the entry level devices in Schiit’s lineup  of DACs and amps.

Cons: Modi 2 Uber button feels loose.
Tonal Balance: Magni 2 Uber/Modi 2 Uber – Slightly bright with mild grain; Vali 2/Modi 2 Uber – Warm leaning, refined sound, a bit gooey/slow sounding.
Cost at Time of Review: Modi 2 Uber $150, Magni 2 Uber $150, Vali $169

Schiit Audio Vali 2 Review

Currawong has a video and written review of Schiit’s Vali2 on Head-Fi.  He and many others really like this little inexpensive amp.  He also goes into a bit of detail around the various tubes you can roll through the Vali 2.  I tagged this as an audiophile device based on reviews from Currawong and from discussions with others. I actually know of two folks (who shall remain nameless) who actually prefer this over their other $1,000 amp stages.

Summary:

Pros: Small, cheap, powers even HE1000s like it owns them and IEMs are also OK. Entertaining, slightly loose sound. Huge range of tubes can be rolled.
Cons: Stock tube is so-so. Pre-amp isn’t great. Casing has sharp edges. Your GF/wife will steal it and you’ll have to buy a second one.

The Schiit Valhalla 2 – A new review

Currawong over at Head-Fi has just posted a detailed video review of the Schiit Valhalla 2.  I have the original Valhalla and use is with my IEMs as well as high-impedance headphones. I love it.

Currawong’s summary: The Schiit Valhalla 2 is a excellent value, flexible amp that gives a wide and clear presentation with high-impedance headphones.
